04.07.07 SNOWY EASTER

Here it is the morning before Easter and we are blessed with a suprise snow! Beautiful. What more can be said?

04.05.07 FRUIT TREES BLOSSOM

The weather has turned cold again. I don't mind, it slows down the mad rush of spring. Warm weather can accelerate two weeks of cool spring weather into an afternoon and the next thing you know the lilac and the iris are blooming! In the garden the fruit trees begin to bloom, these photos show their progress. The cherries are first, then the pears, and finally the apples. We are still at a high risk of frost and so I can understand the reluctance of the different trees to show their fragile finery to the bees.

3.1.07 SPRING BLOSSOMS!

Blossoms inside and out! The last of the paperwhite narcissus bulbs planted during the big freeze last month and put in front of the window begin to open. And on my walk across the park to the studio I spy the first blossoms of the early cherry tree. Last year I got a photo of it with snow on the blossoms. This is a tree which would definitely bring to mind feelings of wabi sabi in the Japanese Zen Buddhist.
